Bulkhead OS supports several content types, each designed for a specific purpose. Choosing the right type ensures your content gets the right layout, metadata, and discoverability.
Available Types
| Type | Best for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Page | Standalone pages | About, Contact, Now page |
| Inform | Knowledge articles | Documentation, FAQ, guides |
| Post | Timely content | Blog posts, field notes, announcements |
| Procedure | Step-by-step guides | Tutorials, how-tos, recipes |
| Event | Time-bound happenings | Meetups, workshops, markets |
| Linkblog | External links with commentary | Reading roundups, curated links |
| Guardrail | Policies and rules | Code of conduct, community guidelines |
Choosing a Type
Each type affects how your content appears:
- Pages get no date, no author — they're timeless
- Posts get a publication date and author — they're part of your feed
- Procedures render with numbered steps and a reading time estimate
- Events include date/time fields and can appear in calendar views
Tip: If you're building a documentation site, use the Inform type for your docs pages. It's designed for structured knowledge that doesn't expire.
